About

In this 3rd edition, we have brought together 9 talented Angolan artists who, through their works, explore profound subjects such as identity, memory, love, vulnerability and spiritual communication. The artworks on exhibition use a wide range of styles, including Realism, Pop Art, Abstract, Folk, Surrealism, Street Art and Expressionism, which provide a rich and diverse visual experience.

Each work is a window into a world of reflections and emotions. The visitors are invited to explore narratives that question African self-construction and the search for identity, the celebration of romance and sensuality inspired by biblical texts, and to reflect on the fragility and strength of the human spirit. The pieces also highlight spiritual communication with ancestry, which enhances Angolan cultural memory and challenges the viewer to consider social indifference and the complexities of hope and rumour in today's society. As you navigate through this exhibition, I encourage you to take your time with each piece, to let yourself be enveloped by the vibrant colours, textures and shapes that capture the essence of our past and present. Each piece is an essential part of a collective narrative that enriches our understanding of Angolan art and culture.

Intersections is more than an exhibition. It's a journey that celebrates Angola's cultural richness and the creativity of its artists. I hope this experience awakens in you the same passion and curiosity that we have when curating this exhibition. Let yourself be surprised, challenged and inspired by each piece.

Welcome to the 3rd edition of Intersections. May this artistic journey be as transformative for you as it has been for us.
