Davi Dombele

Daví Dombele, born in Sambizanga, Luanda, discovered his passion for the fine arts at an early age, creating comic strips by the age of 7. In 2016, he embarked on a professional journey in visual arts, focusing on painting. He further honed his craft at the Complexo Escolar das Artes (CEART) in 2018, where he embraced the identity of an "illustracionista." His artistic practice is rooted in daily observation and research, blending real and allegorical imagery to bridge the gap between fiction and reality through mediums such as canvas and paint.

Dombele’s talent has been recognised with notable accolades, including the Angola 35 Graus Award in 2019 (Art and Culture category) and the Musseque Youth Award in 2023 (Culture and Art category). In 2021, he participated in the Resiliart Angola Artistic Residency, organised by UNESCO in Luanda.

His works have been featured in both national and international exhibitions, including:

Mulheres (2018), Hotel HCTA, Luanda
