CasziB

Casimir Balibié Bationo, artistically known as CasziB, is a contemporary painter from the Lélé tribe in west-central Burkina Faso. Born in Adjamé, Ivory Coast, in 1982, he currently lives and works in Ouagadougou. CasziB's artistic career is marked by his deep immersion in painting, life drawings, photography, lighting and cinema, culminating in a three-year formal training in contemporary painting. This training was fundamental to perfecting his art and developing his unique style.

CasziB's life experiences, spanning several countries such as the Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, Mozambique, Morocco, and traveling through Europe, the United States and South America for exhibitions, have enriched him with diverse knowledge, insights and inspirations. His art thrives on continuous exposure to different cultures, people, struggles and intellectual concepts, which feed his incessant creativity and prolific imagination.

His paintings, which reflect the perpetual movement of life, are deeply anchored in contemporary reality. Through vibrant tones, rhythmic patterns and faces created from shadows, blurs and contrasts, CasziB portrays his vision of an active Africa, simultaneously strengthened by its values and overshadowed by Western cultural influences. His work captures the collision and blending of these cultures.

Exploring CasziB's paintings is like diving into multifaceted stories, imagining the destinations behind the penetrating eyes that invite viewers on a haunting, yet graceful and delicate journey. Her art speaks to the "sensitive", with references that are both intimate and universal, reflecting on themes such as the relationship between human beings and nature, others and their emotions, as well as racism, love, homelessness, migration, human rights, social struggles, family and the environment.

The subjects of his paintings emerge in a whirlwind of movements, blurs and a profusion of colors, as if the dreams of life were taking immediate and tangible form. CasziB's profoundly unique works offer multiple paths for exploration and discovery. Accepting the artist's invitation to cross between these faces means embarking on a journey full of questions, desires for encounters, where beauty confronts harshness and delicacy triumphs over violence.
